Getting to Port Renfrew

Port Renfrew is located on the south west coast of Vancouver Island, a scenic 2 hr drive from either Victoria or Duncan. Now the midway-destination on Vancouver Island's new Pacific Marine Circle Route, Port Renfrew makes an excellent day trip as well as longer getaway.

From Victoria, visitors will travel past Sooke along the picturesque West Coast Road, also known as Highway 14 (view road map). This lovely drive offers plenty of interesting stops along the way; including beautiful provincial parks, beaches, surfing spots and funky cafes.

From Duncan, visitors can reach Port Renfrew via Lake Cowichan and the the newly-paved Pacific Marine Circle Route. This scenic drive takes visitors through temperate rainforest and along Cowichan Lake, Vancouver Island's second largest lake. Take a dip in the water or choose to explore the lake by boat or canoe - there is also great fly fishing in this area. There are several trails in the area for hikers including the one-hour loop covering both sides of Cowichan River in Cowichan River Provincial Park.
